La Inmaculada Vocational Education and Training Center presents this participation project in the Erasmus + program as an opportunity to support the mobility of our students to different European destinations to carry out real internships in Hostelry, Dietetics and Early Childhood Education companies. This participation is justified by the practical training needs of our students in countries with different cultures and the importance of languages in the current job market. In addition, due to the current unemployment situation that many young people live in Spain and the dynamism of the labor market, we consider that we can open new employment opportunities to our students through an internationalization program such as Erasmus +. As an institution, it is a great challenge to be able to initiate a strategy of internationalization and modernization of Vocational Education and Training, contributing to the comprehensive training of our students through learning experiences in European companies. The project will be put into practice at La Inmaculada Vocational Education and Training Center through the Modernization and Internationalization Plan planned for the 2021-2027 academic year. This plan will consist of a series of documents describing how our institution is organized and how to contact us so that students can carry out this type of internship in Europe. It will also draw up a schedule of activities where the different phases of the project and the material and human resources that we will have for its development will be established.

Strategy, objectives and impact

Participation in the Erasmus + program is a great opportunity for our Center to support the mobility of Hostelry, Dietetics and Early Childhood Education students to develop as individuals and as professionals. It fits perfectly into our strategy of creating new synergies with European companies in the sector that, through cooperation projects, involve the modernization of the Center's image and offer new internationalization opportunities to our students.

Our strategy to develop the program has as main aspects:

  • Appropriate choice of collaborating companies for the reception: we will prioritize those companies that are part of the productive sectors of the professional families that the center teaches and we will sign a commitment so that the training of our students is in accordance with their capacities and the professional competencies associated with the cycle. We will make a prior contact with these companies to find out how they work and how they are structured.
  • Correct selection of participating students: when selecting students, we will take into account criteria of equality and help for the most vulnerable profiles. In addition, the level of maturity of the students will be taken into account to face immersion in other cultures, their knowledge of the official language of the host country, and their academic performance at the center.
  • Choice of host countries: our students will be offered as a destination countries where the language is preferably English, since it is the language they dominate the majority, although we will be open to other destinations in the European Union. These destination countries will be especially those that have a developed productive system in the professional sectors that our students are training. Destinations where students can have job opportunities and where the standard of living is affordable for a trainee student profile will also be assessed.

Our main objective is to give the students of our Center the opportunity to live a professional experience through internships in European companies in which they can develop their professional, social and personal skills under a framework of sustainability and respect for interculturality.

The specific objectives that we set ourselves are the following:

  • Complement the acquisition of professional, personal and social skills of our second year students of Higher Degree Training Cycles.
  • Carry out the Training Course in Work Centers in different countries of the European Union.
  • Support students prior to mobility in their improvement of linguistic competence and improvement of their cultural competence.
  • Promote the personal development of students knowing new cultures, motivating them to adapt to other work environments and learning languages to communicate.
  • Improve practical experience in professional development knowing international organizations and how their productive sector is structured in other countries of the European Union.
  • Increase our network of contacts with European companies that collaborate and cooperate with our Center to contribute to the professional and personal development of our students.
  • Improve transversal skills such as teamwork, entrepreneurial initiative, decision-making, empathy, respect for cultural diversity and the environment.
  • Participation in the Erasmus + program of 10% of 2nd year students enrolled in Higher Degree Training Cycles each year.
  • Cooperate with at least 15 European companies where our students can take their Workplace Training.
  • Improve the linguistic competence of our students in official languages of the European Union after the internship experience.
  • Facilitate the employability of our students in the companies where they carry out their internship program.

The expected impact of this program has the following objectives:

  • Expansion of the number of European partner companies so that our students can carry out their internships.
  • Promotion of culture and employment in Europe through the use of ECVET and Europass.
  • Inclusion of people with fewer job opportunities, opening up new ways for job placement.
  • Involvement by our Center in Vocational Training internationalization and modernization projects within the European Union.
  • Cooperation between our Educational Institution and European companies in this area in order to support the professional training of students and their future job placement. The participation of our students in Erasmus programs will contribute in the long term to our Center having a network of collaborating companies willing to host interns, thus promoting the mobility of our students and offering them a quality service.

In addition, it will allow us to have a community of alumni who can act as ambassadors for the program, encouraging future students to live the experience of doing internships in European companies. It is a very good opportunity for our Center to take advantage of the advantages of belonging to an international educational program that can be the starting point for many students to get their first job, improve their linguistic competence and be aware of the cultural diversity of Europe.

To assess the achievement of the objectives, we will use the following indicators:

  • Number of students participating in the mobility
  • Number of collaborating companies.
  • Number of countries included in the program.
  • Language level of at least a B2 in the language of the country.
  • Degree of labor insertion of students in collaborating companies.
  • Level of satisfaction of the participating students: regarding the workplace, monitoring of the teaching tutor, monitoring of the labour tutor.
  • Level of satisfaction of the companies.
  • Event log.

The time in which we intend to achieve the objectives is based on three phases of the project as specified below:
